Technological progress in generating energy may cause increase in demand, creating a Jevons paradox. Are we always going to be chasing our tail without changing our attitude on resource consumption?
Jimeno Fonseca is Senior Researcher and Principal Investigator at the Future Cities Laboratory. He is an expert in modeling, analysis, and optimization of urban energy systems. His research studies how spatial and temporal changes in climate and urbanization affect the mission, structure and performance of energy infrastructure.
He obtained his PhD at the ETH Zurich, where he created the City Energy Analyst software. He has been involved in several award-winning projects looking at the decentralized generation of energy in developing countries. Jimeno is member of the chair of Architecture and Building Systems of the ETH Zurich, visiting professor at the department of computer science of the Universidad Central de Colombia and Principal Investigator of the Future Resilience Systems II Program and the Cooling Singapore Project of the ETH Zurich.
